The “Percorrer Ribeira Grande | Ribeira Grande Walk Through” tourist itineraries were conceived as a strategic tool to publicize Ribeira Grande as a tourist destination and are, above all, aimed at creating itineraries based on the definition of theme routes that are able to contribute to the enhancement of its historical, cultural, architectural and natural heritage.
The project, developed by RC Consultores, was presented in the presence of Ribeira Grande Mayor Alexandre Gaudêncio, who highlighted the potential benefits of this initiative for those who visit the city and the municipality and look for different itineraries.
"This project is aimed at promoting our historical knowledge and foster the interest for tourism across the entire municipality, arousing the visitors' curiosity by providing new tools for identifying tourist attractions located in the different parishes of the municipality of Ribeira Grande," he said.
Alexandre Gaudêncio highlighted that the work that has been developed is aimed at "inviting people to discover Ribeira Grande by identifying tourist, cultural, religious, natural or maritime attractions, among others." There are several themes and each itinerary will be marked with a different colour.
The strategy will be based on a series of eye-catching elements, ranging from vertical signposts at the entrance and exit of each of the parishes to guides in each of the parishes that will include specific itineraries to highlight the best that they have to offer.
There will also be actions focused on the historic centre of the city of Ribeira Grande, aimed at attracting the visitors' curiosity through flags or metal signs strategically placed in order to identify the municipality's most significant architectural landmarks.
A digital platform will allow accessing all the available contents. City council expects this project to be fully implemented within two months.
