Ribeira Grande invests on its own stand at the BTL to reach across borders

Ribeira Grande is going to be present with its own stand at the BTL - International Tourism Exhibition, which will be held between March 3rd and 6th at FIL Lisbon, in order to publicize the products and services offered by the municipality, thus investing on the enhancement of its external visibility in one of the largest tourist promotion fairs in Portugal.

For five days, the thousands of visitors that attend the BTL will be able to appreciate the best that they can do and discover in the municipality of Ribeira Grande. The goal of the Ribeira Grande Council is to "allow the municipality to reach increasingly broader markets, by standing out as a reference brand and a choice destination," highlighted Alexandre Gaudêncio in the press conference for the presentation of Ribeira Grande's booth.

The town's mayor emphasized that this is "a strong investment made by Ribeira Grande to promote its products" through several marketing events. For example, the event for the presentation of the municipality starts on March 3rd, at 2:30 p.m., with a performance by Mikkel Solnado and Joana Alegre, and ends at 6:30 with the presence of "fado" singer Kátia Guerreiro.

In the meantime there will be opportunities for the presentation of the main events that will take place in Ribeira Grande this year, and several local entrepreneurs will be invited to promote their products. There will be several contests and promotional activities to draw the attention of potential visitors.

Alexandre Gaudêncio made it clear that "we want more for Ribeira Grande and its residents and we believe that the Azores and Ribeira Grande have everything to gain with this further step taken by the City Council towards promoting the city and the municipality across borders."

"In a period marked by globalization, competition takes on extremely aggressive dimensions in which the time and space available for the creation of the desired visibility become every second more difficult to manage, due to the increasing number of entrepreneurial players that seek the best business opportunities," he added.

So, attending the BTL is "an effort towards a better and more efficient quality-focused communication", stressing that "our local identity will be our most important product. We want to add value to Ribeira Grande as a brand, thus actively contributing to the municipality's economic, cultural and social development."

Alexandre Gaudêncio showed his full belief in the idea that "the municipality of Ribeira Grande will be a great asset among the variety of destinations promoted in that which is the largest tourist promotion event in Portugal and, as part of that, we believe that 2016 will be a decisive year for the municipality's future as a tourist destination and for the external promotion of its excellent resources."

The recent airspace liberalisation and our presence at the BTL with our own booth allow us to "show our diversity and to place Ribeira Grande at the center of the national and international tourist offer," said the mayor.

Ribeira Grande's booth at the BTL International Tourism Exhibition was designed by architect Fernando Monteiro and assembled by the carpenters of the Ribeira Grande City Council, which continues to "invest in the recognized quality of its own human resources in order to avoid wasteful spending," noted Alexandre Gaudêncio.
