In this holiday season, the parish of Ribeirinha, in the municipality of Ribeira Grande, presents a nativity scene with over one hundred figures set up along avenue Fulgêncio Ferreira Marques, a rather peculiar and unprecedented attraction.

It is the first time that the parish of Ribeirinha has set up a nativity scene that covers an area of approximately 320m², decorated mainly with lapilli and plants and illuminated by 500-meter-long Christmas lights.

The nativity scene was assembled by Otília Botelho and Sandro Oliveira, two employees of the Ribeira Grande Town Council, which partnered up with the Ribeirinha parish council to launch an initiative that will surely draw many visitors.

The Ribeirinha nativity scene can be visited every day until January 10th, and the lights that give it a typically festive atmosphere are turned on at 7.00 p.m..

Alexandre Gaudêncio, mayor of Ribeira Grande, and José Carlos Garcia, president of the Ribeirinha parish council, were both on hand for the opening of the nativity scene, on the evening of December 1st.
