The Ribeiragrandese theatre welcomes, next Saturday, October 24th, by 9pm, the play “Há um cadáver na despensa” (There is a corpse in the pantry), a theatrical comedy adapted from the work by Victor Ribeiro de Lima, "Um cadáver no armário de Picles" (A corpse in the Pickle closet).
The text adaptation is by Leornado Sousa, the staging by the Solidaried’arte, an amateur theatre group, and is co-produced by the Ribeiragrandense Theatre with the support of the Ribeira Grande Municipal Council.
This play, with eight characters (seven men and a women) reveals itself as a hilarious comedy, placed in the border between the Commedia dell’Arte and the Comédia de Costumes (Ways and customs comedy). Tickets are available at the Ribeiragrandense Theatre's Ticket Office.
With an apparently simple plot, this play includes several dialogues, which, on the one hand, lead to hilarious situations and, on the other hand, create a fine atmosphere. These two factors, therefore, combined, shall certainly please and surprise the audience by the end of the play.
The author, more often than not, resorts to comic situations and thus makes use of a simple language, transforming this text in something understandable and relatable to different audiences.
The plot develops around a political candidate (almost hypochondriac and extremely superstitious), who aspires to a political office, and the actions of an opportunistic man, who wishes to take advantage from the love affair of candidate's wife and her lover, in a way, protected by the underlying electioneering scenario.
